Call to order: 12 pm at Tanners (72nd & Harrison)
Attendees: Marty Boozilkee, Ron Franck, Randy Matsunami, Bill Riggle, Bob Nash. Don Jones had to step down from the league (board, manager, player) due to health issues; we wish him the best.
Website:
Zach McIntyre has continued to make improvements to the layout, design, and report generation.
Zach generated an 8-team initial schedule of 20 games. After a few trial runs, he generated the final product that balances 9am games along with home field assignments.
Once the drafting of teams is completed and entered into the website database, players will be able to filter the schedule by team AND filter the list of registered players by teams.
Managers: After this meeting, we found our 8th manager (Kristina). The managers and teams are:
Randy Matsunami- Twins in white jerseys.
Ron Franck- Astros in classic-navy blue.
Don Fletcher- Cardinals in classic-red. Marty will assist him in the draft. Jimmy Jackson will be his dugout assistant.
Emery Horton- Dodgers in royal true-blue.
Annette Knott- Rays in sea-glass. Since she will be out-of-town on Thursday, Bo will draft her team.
Bob Nash- Orioles in safety-orange.
Pat Boland- Angels in platinum-silver.
Kristina Bacca- Yankees in black. New to the league and thus not knowing the players, Marty and Bill will assist her in the draft.
Registered Players:
At the time of this meeting, we had less than 88 registered players and thus discussed how some teams would get an eleventh player. Come Sunday night we had exactly 88 registered players.
Thus, we will have 11-player rosters and play 11 players to include a 5th outfielder (rover).
Draft Night: Thursday, April 9th at 4pm at the La Vista sports concession bldg.
Bill has already generated a list of the 88 players and given copies to each manager. Player comments were included to point out those dealing with injuries and thus absent early in the season. Comments included vacation times or potential tournaments that would require managers finding subs.
The board also provided each manager with a copy of last year’s FML draft along with the 2025-night league draft that includes players registered for FML. Emery provided new player evaluations from UBA practices. Hopefully we have given all managers enough data for the draft such that we will have a balanced league.
Bill also provided each manager with a copy of the current FML supplemental rules.
For the draft: Bill will record the draft picks.
- Managers have already ranked themselves to determine when they have to select themselves.
- Managers will draw cards (1-8) to establish draft order in a serpentine pattern.
- If asked, all managers and remaining board members can assist a manager in selection during the draft since we are striving for parity.
- During the draft, and up to 24 hours after, managers can trade players. HOWEVER, Marty would like to have the results finalized ASAP so players can be notified soonest.
After the teams are locked down:
- Managers must contact their players soonest and confirm their requested jersey size.
- Marty would like to order the jerseys NLT Monday, April 13th.
- Bill will provide all managers a draft matrix by teams to include (round, player name, preferred playing positions, phone#) as a tool to assist in the managers’ search for substitutes.
Randy/ director of finance:
Tracking a few player fees that might still be in the mail. Coordinating with those players for possible fee delivery at UBA or Lamp Field practices. Fee must be in by the first game.
Bob/ director of umpires:
14 players signed up as volunteer umpires.
Paul Hamill has offered to give volunteer umpires a preseason clinic. Bob hopes to coordinate the clinic prior to the first game of the season. More to follow.
Bats- in coordination with the night League, FML will also inspect bats and provide stickers, especially to highlight senior hot bats used by women and those men 70+. However, the stickers are not in.
Ron/ director of fields:
June 26th is no longer available due to a CWS conflict. Therefore, we decided to play Thursday, June 25th to avoid over 3 weeks of non-play.
The accepted schedule needs to be edited to reflect this change. Bill has contacted Zach.
Marty/ director of purchasing:
With teams and colors established, Marty has already placed the hats order (11 per team).
Marty would like to order the jerseys NLT Monday, April 13th. Meeting ended at 2 pm.
